About Us"My wife, Sophie, although English, was brought up in Spain and loves everything Spanish. She can speak the language fluently and I find myself depending upon her. About three years ago we decided to buy a house in Spain and I wondered how in the world we'd be able to afford "a place in the sun" with my very modest finances. Also, were there all kinds of international trip wires to get over. We decided to search inland, off the tourist trail and away from the coast where prices were way beyond our reach. We discovered that we were wise to do so. Prices were, indeed very affordable and once we made the jump we didn't know what all the fuss was about. Thinking about the jump is a lot harder than the landing. All of a sudden we were actually sipping wine on our roof terrace with lovely views of the mountains in the distance in our modest little home in an ordinary street surrounded by the real Spain. I have been brought up with the notion that you had to have loads of dosh to have a place in Spain. Not so, we found and we don't. Not only are prices much cheaper than on the coast but, also, the cost of living. I am forever hearing from Brits who have been wise to make the jump that they'd never be able to live back home. I am finding the same. However, it's not just the property but a way of life. Buying in Spain is not just to be looked at as a financial investment. If it's life style you ultimately want then you really just cannot go wrong with Spain. It's people don't change and it is the people that make Spain what it is as those wise enough to live here find. We wanted, then, to share our experience with those who think buying a house in Spain is beyond their reach and that it is all too much trouble and a bother. It is not. Of course, today's economic climate is daunting but nothing bad lasts forever. Prices are at the moment falling but when the market stabilises, up they'll go again and, still, they will be affordable. For the same properties in Britain, for example, you'd have to add an extra nought. At present we have properties in Andalucia and are looking further all over Spain. You'll need to check out our website and look on www.kyero.com. With Spain it's a way of life and a most agreeable one at that." |
